One of the beautiful traditions that previous generations of Labunishta residents have nurtured for years, and which is still present in many families today, is the shared lunch after the Friday prayer.

Friday has always held a special place in the life of Labunishta residents. After the conclusion of the Friday prayer, the family would gather around the table and wait for the members returning from the mosque.

On the Friday table, some of the recognizable homemade dishes were often found: komat (pie) with leek, cheese, or beans, and sometimes the meal was accompanied by homemade cornelian cherry juice. Simple food, yet with a taste that for many even today evokes memories of home, family, and old Labunishta.

This beautiful custom is still cherished in many Labunishta homes today. Unfortunately, with the pace of modern life, work obligations, and contemporary lifestyle, in an increasing number of families such shared lunches are beginning to be skipped.

And perhaps especially today, when we are all rushing somewhere, we need these small traditions that remind us to sit together, to see each other, to listen, and to not forget that family is kept united around the shared table.
