Personal and Artistic Profile

Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you started with art?

First, selam aleikum and a big greeting to all my neighbors. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express myself. I have loved painting since I was little, since first grade. I know that teachers Ace Mladenoski and Vladimir Mladenoski (greetings to them too) often took my drawings and I received praise. So there is no specific time period when and how I started.

What inspires you to create art?

Mostly nature.

Have you had any formal education in art, or are you self-taught?

Love for drawing teaches me something every day.

What techniques and materials do you most often use? Mostly oil on canvas and acrylic.

Art in Labunishta

How would you describe the art scene in Labunishta?

In Labunishta, as you know, musical art predominates.

Are there other artists in the village you collaborate with or draw inspiration from?

There are artists, yes, but no collaboration because painting is more of a hobby and relaxation for me, not a profession I make a living from.

How much does the village and its tradition influence your works?

A lot. Currently I am working on several pieces motivated by our and nearby villages.

Creative Process

What does a typical day look like when you work on an artwork? Do you have a ritual or way of working that motivates you?

Quiet oriental Turkish music.

How long does it take you to finish a piece?

Depends on the painting and technique. When painting with oils, you have the opportunity to work on it longer.

Challenges and Opportunities

What challenges do you face as an artist? Have you ever thought about turning art into a profession?

It's never too late :)

Is there enough support for artists in your community?

Yes. I am often positively criticized for not pursuing painting professionally in my area. If you mean state support – unfortunately no profession has it.

Future Plans

What are your future plans in art?

I will continue, with love and from love, to always paint. The brush, colors, pencil... are part of me.

Would you like to hold an exhibition in Labunishta or elsewhere?

Well... maybe, soon.

Is there a piece you are particularly proud of and would like to share with the public?

There is. Some have been taken, some (re)sold... but to share with the public – I always have.
