Tomorrow, September 1, 2026, the new 2026/2027 school year begins, and for 80 children from Labunista it will be their first day at school desks.

Labunista this year again remains the record holder for the number of first graders among rural areas in the country. A total of 80 first graders from Labunista will start their educational journey tomorrow at the "Murat Labunishti" Elementary School.

Although there has been a yearly decrease in the number of students, primarily as a consequence of families emigrating to Western European countries, Labunista still stands out with a significant number of children starting first grade.

The generation that is to begin primary education this year counts about 180 children. Of them, 80 will start their education in their hometown Labunista, while around 100 children will begin their educational process in Western European countries where their families have emigrated.

These numbers once again show the size of Labunista, but also the challenge the community faces – the emigration of young families and their children.

For the youngest, tomorrow begins a new and important chapter filled with new knowledge, friendships, and unforgettable school moments.

We wish all students, especially our youngest first graders, a happy start, much success, knowledge, and beautiful moments throughout the school year! Good luck first graders! 🎒📚
