With great disappointment and outrage, we note the repeated use of the term "Mountain Lakes of Struga (Labunishta)" by the Alpine Exploration Club "Struga".

We wish to publicly remind that the lakes are located on the Jablanica mountain and each lake has its own historical and geographical name. They are situated within the territories of Labunishta, Podgorci, and Vevchani, and not within the territory of the city of Struga.

The mountain is a treasure for all, and everyone has an equal right to visit, explore, and promote it. However, it is unacceptable to represent natural sites with clearly established affiliation according to someone’s wishes or interests, erasing local identity and traditional names.

We especially react because this is not the first time the same term has been used, whereby the Labunishta Ponds and other mountain lakes are again presented as "lakes of Struga."

We appeal to all mountaineering, ecological, and tourist organizations to show respect for the true geographical names, local traditions, and historical affiliation of these natural treasures.

Respectfully, Lovecko Ecological Mountaineering Association "Strizhak" – Labunishta
