Authorities have recently conducted intensified inspections that revealed a serious scale of illegal logging of forest resources in the country. According to publicly released information from the director of Public Enterprise National Forests, Kire Mihailov, with a cutting permit of 1,000 m³, over 10,000 m³ of wood are being harvested – indicating an alarming ratio of 9:1 favoring illegal logging.

During the inspections, a mass confiscation of trucks, freight vehicles, and machinery used for unlawful forest exploitation was carried out. Additionally, video documentation confirms that trailers are also used in these activities, indicating organized transport of illegally cut wood to other cities and countries.

The situation is especially concerning in the region of Jablanica Mountain and the village of Labuništa, where a large scale of illegal logging is taking place, with serious consequences for the natural environment and local communities.

NATURA LAB expresses deep concern and reiterates its readiness to cooperate with all institutions to fully address forest crime. We remain available to undertake joint actions for the protection, restoration, and sustainable management of forest resources.

Sincerely, NATURA LAB
