If you have ever walked through Vevčani, you surely noticed how beautiful and natural their river looks – with greenery, natural flow, and life around it. A true picture of a village that cares for its nature. 🌿💧
On the other hand, the Labuništa River – which for decades has been a symbol of life in our village – today is completely covered with concrete. The natural appearance is lost, and the river has been reduced to a channel with walls rather than being an ornament of the village.
But why did we reach this state?
The reason for concreting is to protect against the spread of diseases, which appeared as a result of uncontrolled dumping of waste into the river. The people themselves turned the river into a wild dump. Over time, instead of preserving it – we were forced to close it off.
🙁 But imagine – if we all kept it clean together, today it might look like the river in Vevčani – natural, alive, and beautiful.
🔄 It is time for change! If we want to hear the sound of water, birds, and children's laughter by the river again tomorrow – we must stop throwing waste today and start caring.
