(If it is for good, may Allah decree it to come true.)
✍️ Yakub Kazimoski
From the series "Wisdom of the Old Labunishta People"
The old people of Labunishta had limited opportunities for schooling and education. Many of our mothers and grandmothers could neither read nor write. But that does not mean they were deprived of life wisdom, upbringing, and moral values.
What they knew, they inherited from their parents and older generations, through family upbringing, daily conversations, and life experiences.
They might not have memorized many religious traditions or been able to quote verses and hadiths, but they knew something very important: what is right and what is not; what is honest and what is not.
And when faced with important life crossroads, when they did not know which path to choose or what decision to make, besides their own thinking and consulting with loved ones, they relied on Allah’s will.
In such moments, the saying was often heard:
“IF IT'S FOR GOOD, MAY ALLAH WILL IT TO HAPPEN!”
These words were not just an ordinary wish for success, but an expression of deep faith that a person cannot always know what is best for them.
Many times in my own life, when I stood before important decisions and sought advice from my parents, I heard these words from my mother:
“Son, if it's for good, may Allah will it to happen!”
In those few words, there was more than advice — motherly love, sincere prayer, and trust in God’s wisdom.
She did not tell me what to choose but prayed to Allah that my choice would be good for me.
LESSON FOR TODAY
We live in a time when we have much more knowledge, information, and choices, but not always enough wisdom to recognize what is truly good for us.
Often, we desire something so strongly to happen that we forget to ask ourselves whether it will truly bring us good.
The old people of Labunishta have left us a great life lesson with this short saying:
Not everything we wish for is always good for us, nor is everything that does not happen always bad for us.
Therefore, a person must think, seek advice, strive, and decide but also be aware of the limitations of their own knowledge.
Wisdom is not only in knowing what we want but also in the humility to accept that we do not always know what is best for us.
“Do not only ask Allah to give you what you desire, but ask Him to give you that which truly contains goodness — blessing and prosperity for your life.”
