In the past, almost every family in Labunishta had its own field. Everything was planted there – from potatoes and peppers to apples and pears. Today, the fields are empty, and many people no longer grow what once was part of their daily lives. However, have we thought about what we are losing by this? Why is it good to return to growing our own food?
1. The Taste of Old Times
Do you remember the taste of homegrown tomatoes? It cannot be compared to those from the market. When you grow your own food, it has a flavor that carries the memory of childhood. Plus, it's healthy food, without chemicals and artificial additives.
2. Lower Costs
Food prices in markets rise every day. If you have a garden or a piece of land, you can grow your own vegetables and fruit and save money. Seeds are not expensive, and the yield is very valuable.
3. Work That Brings Health
Digging, planting, and harvesting are not just work – they are exercise for the body. Instead of sitting at home or in front of a computer, working in the garden improves health and also reduces tension and stress.
4. Nature and Pleasure
There is nothing better than spending time outdoors, with your hands in the soil, watching your plants grow. Growing food is not just work – it is pleasure and pride when you taste the fruits of your labor.
5. Less Dependence on Markets
Today, food in markets comes from different countries, often traveling thousands of kilometers before reaching us. When you have your own food, you are not dependent on what is or isn't on the shelves.
6. Let’s Not Forget Our Roots
Growing food is part of our history and culture. It connects us with our ancestors and traditions. If we abandon the fields, we will lose that part of our story too.
You don’t need a huge garden to start. A small piece of land or a few pots on the terrace is enough. Start with something simple – parsley, tomatoes, or peppers. With a little effort and love, you will see how wonderful it is to grow your own food.
It is time for Labunishta to return to the fields. Health, taste, and tradition are waiting for us. Why not give it a try?
