Although the second semester is in full swing in schools, winter still reminds us of the beautiful moments from the recent winter break. Such a special experience is shared by fifth grader Nihal Sefidanoska from the village of Labunishta near Struga, whose story was published in the newspaper "Nova Makedonija."

In her text, the young author narrates the unforgettable journey to the holy Muslim sites – Mecca and Medina, where she participated with her family in the Umrah ritual. Through a child's sincere and emotional perspective, Nihal describes the feelings of excitement, peace, and spiritual joy she experienced during the visit to these holy cities.

Her story is not just a travelogue but also a lesson about true values – gratitude, patience, respect, and peace in the heart. The journey, she emphasizes, helped her realize that happiness is not measured by material things but by spiritual fulfillment and kindness to others.

This winter break was the most special one of my life. Instead of staying home and enjoying only the snow and snow games, my parents told me something that left me speechless. They told me that we would travel to participate in the Umrah ritual in the cities of Mecca and Medina! At that moment, I was both surprised and very happy, and my heart was pounding with excitement. I couldn't believe that I would visit those holy places I had heard so much about. Even then, I thought how wonderful it would be to return and tell all my friends everything, with great joy and pride.

From the very beginning, I felt great excitement because these two holy cities hold a special place in every Muslim's heart. As I prepared for the trip, I kept imagining how the places I had only seen in pictures and videos would look. Traveling by plane was especially interesting to me, as it was my first time flying so far. I looked at the sky through the window and imagined something very important and unforgettable was waiting for me. The first thing that amazed me was the Kaba building, considered the holiest place in the Islamic world, located in the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The feeling is indescribable. I saw many people from different countries speaking different languages, but all of us performed the ritual with peace and respect. Although there were many people, everything was orderly, peaceful, and united. I felt like I was part of something great and holy. At those moments, I understood that faith unites people and that we are all equal before Allah (God). There, I learned how important patience, humility, and sincere prayer are. Then we visited the city of peace, Medina. It left a special impression on me due to its quiet and calm atmosphere. Everything looked different, quieter, more peaceful, and the entire atmosphere seemed to encourage reflection. The Prophet's Mosque was a beautiful place where I felt peaceful and safe. We spent time there in prayer and reflection, and every moment was filled with respect and gratitude. I especially liked that people were kind, attentive, and constantly trying to do good.

This journey taught me many important life values. I learned that we should be grateful for everything we have and that true happiness is not just in gifts or fun, but in peace in the heart. I also realized how important it is to respect others, be patient, and not complain about every little thing. These days brought me many beautiful feelings that I will remember for a lifetime. When I returned home, I was happy but also sad that the journey ended so quickly. Still, beautiful memories and a very strong joy remained within me. I looked forward to returning to school and telling my friends how Mecca and Medina look, what I felt, and what I learned. I will never forget this winter break because it was a journey that enriched my heart and soul. After this wonderful journey, we eagerly await the holy month of Ramadan – a month of fasting, prayer, kindness, forgiveness, and spiritual peace.
