As an architect and interior designer, I often face the challenge of creating spaces that are not only functional but also enhance the visitors' experience. The impact of ambience in restaurants and cafes is much greater than many people may realize, and it can significantly shape customers' perception and mood.
In many cases, such as in Labunishta, there is frequently a lack of investment in quality design. Sometimes, instead of carefully crafted interiors, one sees spaces furnished with items lacking a clear vision, merely to create a space without considering the effect it will have on customers. This greatly limits the potential of the hospitality business, instead of creating attractive places that would draw a wider audience.
Warm hues and well-dimensioned lighting create a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Light and natural tones can make the space appear larger and more open, while darker and more intimate interiors are ideal for luxury restaurants.
Spacious layouts and comfortable seating are key for a pleasant experience. Overcrowded tables may cause discomfort, while well-balanced privacy and social interaction improve the experience.
Spaces that are too noisy can create stress and discomfort. Good acoustics and controlled musical background improve the atmosphere and make the space more pleasant. Materials and textures: The combination of natural materials such as wood, stone, and textiles creates a feeling of warmth and authenticity, while glass and metal can add a modern and elegant look.
Plants and natural elements not only beautify the space but also create an atmosphere that offers calmness and comfort.
Spaces should have corners that stand out and become recognizable to guests. These corners are special zones with unique design and good lighting that motivate visitors to share their moments on social networks. In wedding and event restaurants, these corners can become a distinctive feature of the place and attract new clients.
The design should tell the story of the space, from a retro cafe to a modern urban restaurant or a traditionally inspired place.
The place should be comfortable for guests and staff, with a well-organized flow of movement.
Social networks play a huge role in a place's popularity. Well-lit and uniquely designed corners attract new guests.
From furniture to music and scents, every small detail creates an overall experience for the customers.
Often it is thought that to achieve a luxurious or modern look, one must spend large amounts on the most expensive materials and furniture. However, that is not always the case. With the right choice of colors and a combination of inexpensive materials, a modern and luxurious design can be created without exceeding the budget. The key lies in carefully selecting details that create an aesthetic balance. By combining simple materials such as wood, textiles, or metal, and choosing functional and elegant elements, an elegant and contemporary space can be achieved.
In Labunishta, there is great potential for developing the hospitality sector, but unfortunately, design often does not receive the required attention. Cafes are often arranged without a clear conceptual vision, which reduces the attractiveness of the place. This practice is a serious missed opportunity as modern clients expect much more than just a few chairs and tables.
The same goes for wedding and event restaurants – spaces that should have excellent acoustics, aesthetics, and lighting that create a unique atmosphere. However, many of these restaurants are designed with old concepts and do not consider the importance of details.
Modern hospitality demands more than a good meal – the space must be an experience. As an architect and interior designer, my advice to cafe and restaurant owners is to think strategically, invest in quality design, and create unique spaces that attract customers' attention. With the right approach, every place can become an unforgettable experience for visitors.

Before Renovation (First Photo):
• Color and lighting: The space has a dark appearance with grayish-white walls and minimal lighting play. • Floor materials: Ceramic tiles with geometric design offer little reflection, making the space darker and less luxurious. • Columns: Simple and plaster-covered, without decorative elements, leaving an industrial and less sophisticated look. • Furniture: Chairs with classic covers and modestly decorated tables create a formal but not very modern ambiance. • Overall impression: Functional but outdated space, more like a banquet hall without a distinctive identity.
After Renovation (Second Photo):
• Light and colors: The space is fully illuminated with a combination of reflective surfaces, warm lighting, and luxurious chandeliers. Colors are refined – light shades of white, gray, and gold accents. • Floor design: Marble look with black and gold frames adds glamour and a sense of exclusivity. • Columns: Completely transformed with vertical reflective surfaces and gold capitals, creating wealth and elegance. • Furniture: Transparent acrylic chairs, refined tables with carefully selected decorative elements create a modern and exclusive ambiance. • Overall impression: The space is completely transformed into a luxurious event hall, which will attract customers seeking elegance and exclusivity.
**The renovation completely changed the impression – from an ordinary banquet hall to a modern, luxurious space that attracts elite clientele. This is an excellent proof of how design influences the perception and success of a hospitality space.
