The tradition of sending fellow villagers on the sacred Hajj ritual in Labunishta village stands as one of the most beautiful customs that preserve the spirit of unity and spiritual connection within this community. This tradition, which began back in 1963, is known and valued not only in Macedonia but throughout the Islamic world.

It all started when the residents of Labunishta sent the imam and village registrar Arslan Qazimoski on his journey to Mecca and Medina. Since then, sending off Hajj pilgrims has become a custom highlighting the village’s solidarity, where neighbors gather to send someone on this important spiritual journey.

The tradition is maintained with deep respect and great joy. Families of those embarking on Hajj organize celebrations, and the entire village participates in prayers and congratulations. Through this sending off, the spiritual strength of the community is demonstrated, as it celebrates the religious rite and supports its members.

Today, this tradition has been nurtured for over six decades, and each farewell is a testament to the faith, love, and respect that the people of Labunishta have for the Hajj as well as for their fellow villagers. It remains a symbol of spiritual heritage and a unifying force for this community.
